Ṭa án Mỹ ra phán quyết hai chủ nhà hàng Tàu gốc Malaysia phải bồi thường $1.7 triệu cho các nhân viên từng làm việc cho họ, v́ đă lấy tiền “tip” của nhân viên, không trả tiền giờ làm việc phụ trội, với mức lương $2/giờ, khiên nhân viên phải sống trong những điều kiện vô cùng tồi tệ.

Theo bản tin của tờ San Francisco Chronicle, hai người chủ là Hai Jie Chen và Hak Chun Ng có 56 nhân viên làm việc trong ba nhà hàng Tàu gốc Malaysia ở vùng Bay Area, gồm Mango Garden ở Fremont, Mangle Jungle ở San Jose và Mango Blaze ở San Mateo.

Trong hơn 3 năm, Chen và Ng hàng ngày dùng xe đưa các nhân viên này từ nơi ở đến nơi làm việc và trở về. Các nhân viên này phải làm việc tới 12 tiếng mỗi ngày trong khi không được trả tiền giờ làm phụ trội sau tám tiếng, theo các giới chức thuộc văn pḥng biện lư quận Alameda County.

Các nhân viên này cũng thường chỉ được trả mức lương $2/giờ và không được hưởng tiền “tip” khách cho.

Hai người chủ cho họ sống trong các căn chúng cư tệ hại, đôi khi có tới 15 người trong một căn chúng cư gồm hai pḥng và họ phải nằm nệm trải xuống sàn, theo giới hữu trách.

Khi Chen và Ng biết là các nhân viên đang tính đưa đơn kiện, họ đóng cửa hai công ty của ḿnh, mở ra công ty khác và đưa tên người khác vào làm chủ để né đơn kiện, theo văn pḥng bảo vệ lao động tiểu bang California.

Chen và Ng bị án lệnh ṭa phong tỏa tài sản và phải trả số tiền lương c̣n thiếu là $1,006,455 lại cho các nhân viên, trả thêm $550,000 tiền phạt lao động, cùng hơn $250,000 là tiền gian lận thuế, bảo hiểm y tế và tiền thuế bán hàng.

con bà mẹ nó thằng chệt chó đẻ . luơng mà nó trả chỉ có 2 đồng một tiếng th́ nó coi nguời làm như chó rồi . nếu mà mấy nguời làm mà là nguời ở mỹ hợp pháp th́ coi như kỳ này sẽ đuợc bù đắp xứng đáng

Không lẽ đám người đi làm được trả 2 đồng một giờ mà họ không biết ..số lương tối thiểu của tiểu bang CA . ( chắc dân này có vấn đề ...) Hồi thời xưa tui đi làm bên TX năm 79 trả có 2.75 đến năm 82 mới được 3.35 / Ai ở TX đều biết chuyện này

Người hơp pháp th́ đâu ai đi làm với số lương 2 đồng một giờ hiện nay . Đi lượm lon c̣n hơn số lương này . Bro nghĩ có đúng không. Dân này là qua mỹ theo kiểu du lịch hay du học sinh ǵ đó hết hạn VS là trốn luôn mà thôi , cũng có thể có tiền án ǵ đó ....nên phải chịu làm mới mức 2 đồng

Tin tức này có vẻ không chính xác bác ơi. Thứ nhất là lương chỉ có $2/giờ. Thứ hai al2 cho dù có trả O/T th́ cũng chỉ là $3.5/giờ. Có cọng, trừ, nhân, chia kiểu nào cũng không thể được đền đến 1.7 triệu cho 3 năm làm việc được.

Cái tụi Chai na này lúc nào cũng nghỉ cách lươn lẹo để trốn thuế nhà nước, bắt chẹt nhân viên.

Bác NS nói đúng, bây giờ tui nhớ lại hồi xưa mới qua cũng có thời gian đi làm nhà hàng tàu . Tụi nó trả cho ḿnh 1/2 tiền mặt c̣n lại là trả check . Ḿnh cũng mừng lắm , nhưng sau này mới biết ảnh hưởng rất nhiều về credit . etc ... lợi và cũng hại về mọi mặt .Nghĩ lúc đó ḿnh dốt thật

Th́ sở thuế biết mẹ ǵ . Có điều quyền lợi của ḿnh bị mất sau này .Một thí dụ nhỏ khi làm full time , bị thất nghiệp muốn lănh tiển trợ cấp họ sẽ căn cứ vào quí của ḿnh cái nào nhiều và sẽ tính vào đó .
