MINNEAPOLIS, Minnesota (AP) – Cảnh sát viên Dereck Chauvin, người chèn cổ ông George Floyd, thường dùng vũ lực “quá đáng” và từng làm bảo vệ tại cùng hộp đêm với nạn nhân chỉ mới năm ngoái, người chủ cũ hộp đêm này cho hay.

Bà Maya Santamaria, chủ cũ hộp đêm El Nuevo Rodeo ở Minneapolis, nói bà không chắc hai người này có biết nhau hay không.

Tuy nhiên, bà cho biết, khi còn làm bảo vệ ở đây, ông Chauvin thường rất hung hăng mỗi khi có chuyện xảy ra ở hộp đêm, nhất là trong chương trình mà đa số khách là người da màu.

Bà kể mỗi khi xảy ra ẩu đả, ông thường rút dùi cui ra phang túi bụi vào đám đông. Bà nói với ông rằng biện pháp đó là “quá đáng.”

“Ông ấy cứ rút dùi cui phang bất kỳ ai thay vì chỉ cần bắt giữ những người đang đánh nhau,” bà Santamaria nói. “Ông ấy thường gọi người trợ giúp. Và kết quả là năm hay sáu chiếc xe cảnh sát đến.”

Ông Chauvin là người châm ngòi làn sóng biểu tình khắp nước Mỹ bốn ngày qua sau khi đoạn video thu bằng điện thoại cho thấy ông chèn đầu gối lên cổ ông George Floyd hơn tám phút trong lúc bắt giữ ông ta vì nghi xài tiền giả vào tối Thứ Hai.

Ông Floyd thiệt mạng trong lúc bị cảnh sát bắt giữ. Còn ông Chauvin bị sa thải vào Thứ Ba rồi bị bắt vào Thứ Sáu vì cáo buộc giết người.

Ba cảnh sát viên khác tham gia bắt giữ ông Floyd cũng bị sa thải và đang bị điều tra.

Bà Santamaria cho biết ông Chauvin làm bảo vệ bán thời gian ở câu lạc bộ El Nuevo Rodeo 17 năm và mới nghỉ việc cách nay vài tháng, còn ông Floyd chỉ mới bắt đầu làm bảo vệ ở đây, và chỉ làm việc được hơn một chục chương trình.

Bà Santamaria bán hộp đêm này trong vòng hai tháng qua. Bà nói có lẽ hai người này không biết nhau. Bà cho rằng, nếu nhận ra ông Floyd, có lẽ ông Chauvin “nương tay hơn một chút.”

Bà Santamaria kể ông Chauvin rất thân với khách quen gốc Latino, nhưng cách ông ra tay với những khách quậy phá trong những đêm dành cho “người Mỹ gốc Phi” khiến bà phải góp ý với ông.

“Tôi có nói với ông ấy, nhưng cảnh sát có cách biện minh cho việc họ làm,” bà nói.

Bà cho biết bà rất bàng hoàng khi xem đoạn video ông Chauvin đè ông Floyd xuống đường bằng đầu gối, mặc dù ông Floyd nói ông không thở được.

“Tôi nghĩ ông ấy sẽ có lương tâm hơn một chút,” bà nói. “Dù ông ấy hơi phân biệt chủng tộc, ông ấy vẫn là con người… Khi nào thì nhân tính mới vượt lên được định kiến về chủng tộc?”

Chẳng qua vì anh cảnh sát này chưa hiểu 2 chữ: phục vụ hay cai trị dân. Bây giờ chỉ còn cầu may cho lệnh ân xá đặc biệt thôi.

Nếu tụi tù mà biết có ''bạn dân'' nằm chung trại, chắc là tay này sẽ được... massage hàng ngày.

Bạn Laughster Ở Mỹ cũng lâu chắc Bạn cũng tin tưởng vào luật pháp nước Mỷ hả .... Giết người thì đền tội .. Theo như trường hợp ông cảnh sát này Tôi nghĩ là nhà tù sẻ đưa ông vô maximum security cell để bảo vệ sự an toàn cho ổng.. nhưng khi đi tắm thì không bảo đảm ..

Tôi tin là đệ tử Trump sẻ cứu hay ân xá nếu tên CS này là nhân vật quan trọng trong chính phủ .. Chính phủ Trump không đến nổi ngu xuẩn dính tay vô mấy chuyện nhạy cảm này vì cả nước Mỹ và các nhà báo đang theo dỏi ... việc cứu ông CS này sẻ làm mất điểm cho ông và Đảng CH ..
