Trong một bức thư gửi tới một ủy ban lưỡng đảng Pelosi viết:

“Những tượng đài là những người đă mở đường cho sự bạo tàn và man rợ đă kéo theo nạn phân biệt chủng tộc dai dẳng. Chúng đại diện cho những ư tưởng đó.”

Đồng thời Chủ tịch Hạ viện Nancy Pelosi nhấn mạnh "các bức tượng này tỏ ḷng tôn kính với những thứ đáng căm ghét, không phải di sản. Chúng cần được gỡ bỏ".

11 tượng nói trên là của nhiều nhân vật đă từng cố gắng ly khai khỏi Hợp Chủng quốc Hoa Kỳ trong cuộc Nội chiến Mỹ hiện vẫn đang được đặt tại Điện Capitol.

Tượng của cặp đôi mà Chủ tịch Hạ viện Mỹ Nancy Pelosi cho là những kẻ phản quốc là bức tượng đồng của Jefferson Davis, Tổng thống của chính phủ Liên minh miền Nam và bức tượng đá hoa của Alexander Stephens, người từng làm phó thủ tướng của khối Liên Minh.

Hai bức tượng này đang được đặt ngay tại Hội trường quốc gia, vốn là một địa điểm du lịch nổi tiếng ở Điện Capitol.

Thời gian này trên khắp nước Mỹ, nhiều thành phố cũng kêu gọi dỡ bỏ các bức tượng được xem như biểu tượng của chế độ nô lệ miền nam nước Mỹ. Quân đội Mỹ cũng đang quay lưng với các biểu tượng của Liên minh miền Nam.

Ngày 9 tháng 6, Tham mưu trưởng hải quân, Đô đốc Michael M. Gilday cho hay:

“Đang chỉ đạo nhân viên soạn thảo lệnh cấm cờ chiến đấu của Liên minh miền Nam khỏi tất cả các khu vực công cộng và nơi làm việc trên tàu, máy bay và căn cứ của Hải quân.

Hiện tại th́ tên TT thành phố Portland đang đề nghị cho toàn bộ nhân viên công chức của TP nghĩ một tuần có lương để tưởng niệm "Thánh Floyd". Chắc chắn những thành phố căn cứ địa của đảng con Lừa cũng đưa lên đề nghị tương tự.
