Bộ trưởng Bộ Hải Quân, thay quyền tổng thống Hoa Kỳ đă quyết định thăng cấp cho thiếu Tá Elizabeth Phạm, nữ phi công gốc Việt lái chiến đấu cơ F/A-18 Hornet cho Thủy Quân Lục Chiến Hoa Kỳ, lên trung tá, mà nữ phi công gốc Việt Elizabeth Phạm trở thành phi công người Mỹ gốc Việt đầu tiên của Thủy Quân Lục Chiến Hoa Kỳ.

“Theo các điều khoản quy định, bộ trưởng Bộ Hải Quân, thay quyền tổng thống Hoa Kỳ, quyết định thăng cấp cho sĩ quan Elizabeth Phạm lên trung tá kể từ ngày 1 Tháng Ba, 2019,” thông báo do Thiếu Tướng Craig C. Crenshaw, giám đốc nhân sự, đưa ra cho biết như vậy.

Thủy Quân Lục Chiến là một binh chủng của quân đội Mỹ, nhưng lại trực thuộc Bộ Hải Quân Hoa Kỳ.

Trả lời phỏng vấn nhật báo Người Việt, Bác Sĩ Phạm Văn Minh, thân phụ của Thiếu Tá Elizabeth Phạm, nói: “Chúng tôi rất mừng cho cháu, nhưng cũng lo, v́ lên cấp bậc cao hơn th́ nhiệm vụ cũng nặng hơn.”

Ông Minh là cựu bác sĩ quân y QLVNCH và đang hành nghề y khoa tại Seattle, Washington.

Thư mời, do Đại Tá John C. Lewis, sĩ quan hành quân thuộc Đơn Vị I Lực Lượng Viễn Chinh Thủy Quân Lục Chiến, gởi ra cho biết lễ “gắn lon mới” cho tân Trung Tá Elizabeth Phạm sẽ được tổ chức vào lúc 10 giờ 30 sáng Thứ Bảy, 13 Tháng Tư, trên viện bảo tàng hàng không mẫu hạm USS Midway (CV-41), 900 North Harbor Drive, San Diego, CA 92101.

Tất cả khách tham dự lễ đều hoàn toàn miễn phí và được đi thăm hàng không mẫu hạm.

Theo bài báo “A Vietnamese Journey to Freedom: 40 years later,” đăng trên trang nhà mil.wa.gov, phi công Elizabeth Phạm năm nay 39 tuổi, tốt nghiệp đại học Pacific Lutheran University, Parkland, Washington, phía Nam Seattle.

Sau khi tốt nghiệp, cô vào quân đội, được huấn luyện, và trở thành phi công người Mỹ gốc Việt đầu tiên của Thủy Quân Lục Chiến Hoa Kỳ.

Cô Elizabeth Phạm từng được điều sang chiến đấu ở Iraq, và là thành viên của phi đội chiến đấu cơ F/A-18, toàn phi công nữ, bay tổng cộng hơn 130 phi vụ.

Bác Sĩ Phạm Văn Minh cho nhật báo Người Việt biết ái nữ của ông hiện đang đóng quân tại San Diego, California. (Đỗ Dzũng)

Chúc mừng cô Đại tá (tui thăng cấp trước á) Elizabeth công thành danh toại....

Nhưng phải nhớ nằm ḷng, khi đối đầu với lũ chệt, phải chặn đứng mưu đồ "ăn cướp" nước Mỹ của chúng và dù thế nào đi nữa không được "đào ngũ trước địch quân" à nha... Có bại trận th́ thà... bỏ xác sa trường coi "hoành tráng" hơn, chứ không thèm làm chuột cống nhá... Hehehehehe...

Bộ trưởng Bộ Hải quân là ǵ vậy, sao Hai Lúa tui chưa bao giờ nghe nói hết dziọ bà con ??? Tổng Tư Lệnh Hải Quân ?? Tổng Trưởng Quốc Pḥng??

Ư ḿnh là trong quân đội chỉ có binh chủng Hải Quân, 0 quân vv... và người Tổng Tư Lệnh vv...chứ mà "Bộ Hải Quân" th́ chưa bao giờ nghe noí! Chắc dịch 0 chính xác ??

Dể hiểu v́ trong tư tưởng chú Sam định nghĩa thế này:


Muốn kiểm soát quả địa cầu nằm trong ḷng bàn tay ḿnh th́ phài kiểm soát các Đại Dương trên trái đất...

Mà muốn kiễm soát các Đại dương trên trái đất th́ phải cũng cố Hải quân...

Tử xưa tới nay mấy nước đi thực dân thiên hạ, họ cũng nhờ có Hải Quân mạnh mà thôi...Hải quân British ở thế kỷ thứ 18th là loại "bất bại" nhé (cho nên thời đó thực dân Anh lan tràn khắp thế giới)

Secretary of State phải dịch là:

Bộ trưởng bộ Ngoại Giao chớ khg thể nào dịch theo kiểu :

"Thư kư quốc gia" được..

Cũng như Secretary of Defense phải dịch là:

Bộ trưởng bộ Quốc Pḥng th́ chữ "Secretary of the Navy" phải dịch là Bộ trưởng Bộ Hải Quân rồi..

Trong cơ cấu quân sự Mỹ nó khác mấy nước khác là có Bộ HQ có tính chất "độc lập" ti tí với Bộ Quốc Pḥng Mỹ...

Trong Bộ HQ Mỹ có 1 Sub division là binh chủng Thủy Quân lục chiến Mỹ đó..

Cho nên cô Eliz Phạm này (nằm trong binh chủng USMC) lúc nhận lể lên lon phải có sự đại diện của Bộ HQ Mỹ là chuyện đương nhiên.

Tuị Mỹ rất hảnh diện cái Navy của tụi nó lắm nhen...
Hỏng có nhạc "in The Air force"..hay "in the US Army" (lục quân)

mà chỉ có nhạc "In the Navy" mà thôi. (Tụi nó c̣n qua xứ Pháp quảng cáo cái Navy chú Sam nữa ne.)
