Overseas Vietnamese worldwide raise funds for flood victims in Vietnam
Vietnamese embassies and communities in countries including Malaysia, South Africa, Germany, Algeria, and Hungary have organized donation drives to support those facing difficult circumstances and victims of Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam. Responding to an appeal from Party General Secretary To Lam and the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, these initiatives aim to provide relief to those severely impacted.
In Malaysia, over 33 million VND (nearly 1,350 USD) was collected after the donation drive launched on September 12. The Malaysia-Vietnam Friendship Association and Vietnamese liaison committees have been sharing the embassy’s call for contributions online, with the campaign running until September 21.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese community in Germany raised close to 25,500 EUR (about 28,280 USD) on the first day of their campaign on September 11, with various associations across the country continuing fundraising efforts to assist flood victims.
In Algeria and Hungary, nearly 40 million VND (around 1,630 USD) was collected at donation events. Efforts to gather contributions are ongoing, with the funds to be promptly sent to Vietnam to aid those in affected regions.
This assistance, both spiritual and material, is expected to provide much-needed support, helping flood victims recover and rebuild their lives.
