Overseas Vietnamese continue to raise funds for flood victims
In recent days, Vietnamese embassies and communities in Slovakia, Poland, the Czech Republic, Japan, and Tanzania have initiated donation campaigns to support those affected by Typhoon Yagi in Vietnam.
As of September 20, the Vietnamese Embassy in Slovakia had raised over 17,000 EUR (19,000 USD) just one week after the campaign was launched, following calls from Party General Secretary and State President To Lam, the Presidium of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee, and Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Bui Thanh Son.
The Vietnamese Embassies in Poland and the Czech Republic also garnered significant support, raising over 1 billion VND (40,642 USD) and 3.3 billion VND, respectively.
On September 21, the Vietnamese Embassy in Tanzania kicked off its fundraising drive, during which Ambassador Vu Thanh Huyen emphasized the importance of mutual love and solidarity among those abroad to encourage their compatriots affected by the typhoon in Vietnam.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese community in Japan has contributed over 3.6 billion VND in both cash and goods, which will be sent to relevant authorities in Vietnam to promptly assist those in need.
