COVID-19: A returnee from Japan infected with virus
A Vietnamese citizen returning from Japan has been infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus during the past 12 hours, the Ministry of Health reported on April 24 afternoon.
The male patient, 27 hailing from Thanh Hoa province, boarded VJ3613 flight from Japan to Vietnam’s Da Nang International Airport on April 7.
He was placed in quarantine as soon as he landed in Vietnam, said the MoH in its 18.00hrs update.
The man tested positive on April 23 and was immediately transferred to Da Nang Lung Diseases Hospital for medical surveillance and treatment.
Earlier in the morning the MoH announced two infection cases, including an Indian expert.
The same day, the MoH also announced 26 COVID-19 patients have been discharged from hospital after making a full recovery from the disease, raising the total number of recoveries to 2,516 out of 2,833 infections confirmed.
Among the active cases receiving treatment in healthcare facilities, 48 have tested negative at least once.
The number of COVID-19 fatalities remains at 35, including 31 in Da Nang, three in Quang Nam and one in Quang Tri.
