15 Debate Rules: What to Know for the Donald Trump vs. Kamala Harris Showdown

by Wendell Husebo
Sep. 10, 2024

Former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris are set to square off for their first and potentially only presidential debate on Tuesday at 9:00 p.m. ET on ABC News.
Both campaigns and ABC News negotiated and agreed to several rules leading up to the debate following President Joe Biden’s departure from the race.

The most notable rule is muted mics while the other nominee speaks. The rule originated from Biden’s negotiated parameters for his debates with Trump. Harris does not like the muted mic rule because it seemed to benefit Trump during the first debate while exposing Biden’s gaffe-prone performance.

Preparing to debate Trump is like “trying to prepare for Floyd Mayweather or Muhammad Ali,” Trump adviser Jason Miller told reporters Monday. “You just — you don’t know what angle they’re going to come at you with. You don’t know what style of contrast that they’re going to deliver.”

Below is a 15-point list of debate rules and parameters, according to ABC News:
  1. 90-minute debate
  2. Anchors Linsey Davis and David Muir will moderate
  3. Two commercial breaks
  4. No audience in the room
  5. Only the moderators will ask questions
  6. Microphones will only be live for the candidate whose turn it is to speak
  7. No opening statements
  8. Two minutes to answer each question with a two-minute rebuttal
  9. One minute for a follow-up, clarification, or response
  10. Via a coin flip, Trump selected to give the last closing statement
  11. Harris selected the right podium position
  12. No props
  13. No pre-written notes
  14. Each will have a pen, a pad of paper, and a bottle of water
  15. Campaign staff will not coach candidates during commercial breaks

Kamala Harris Screwed Seniors with Skyrocketing Medicare Premiums

by Americans for Limited Government (Sponsored)
10 Sep 2024

At the second first presidential debate, Vice President Kamala Harris will claim she capped prescription drug costs so that she can say she took on big drug companies. Sure enough, ahead of her debate, Harris released a new list of policies on her campaign website. She claims: “Just as she did as Vice President, she will take on Big Pharma to lower drug prices.”

But what she’s not telling you is that her policies and one consequential vote is making seniors’ wallets weep.

As vice president, Kamala Harris cast the tie-breaking vote that’s now making seniors’ Medicare Part D premiums skyrocket faster than a SpaceX rocket. The Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) might as well be renamed the “Inflation of Medicare Premiums Act.” The IRA or IMPA has increased seniors’ Medicare Part D premiums by more than 20 percent this year and will increase their premiums by more than 50 percent next year. And it could be even higher—some say double.

And to hide the premium hikes on seniors right before the election, the Biden-Harris administration is bailing out Part D insurers with billions in taxpayer dollars from the Medicare trust fund.

But wait, there’s more! This act didn’t just tweak the numbers; it created a new $3 billion bureaucracy so big that it could probably be seen from space. This isn’t just about higher premiums; it’s about government bureaucrats playing doctor, deciding what medicines are covered for your ailments.

And if you thought that was the limit of this legislative misadventure, think again. They’ve siphoned off $300 billion from Medicare, not for your grandparents’ heart medication, but for EV subsidies and health care for illegal immigrants. Kamala Harris must believe electric cars and illegal immigrants’ health are more important than your grandparents’ health.

Harris might claim she’s fighting for you, but her policies? They’re fighting seniors’ bank accounts. Trump has a plan to make healthcare great again, not just for the elite, but for every American senior.

Trump will dismantle the giant healthcare bureaucracy created by this administration and kick out the government bureaucrats that Kamala Harris put in charge of deciding what kind of health care you can have.

He’ll implement the Trump Rebate Rule, which cuts out the middlemen and says that all price discounts negotiated between drug and insurance companies will only go to patients and seniors. In plain English, that means your drug discounts go to you, not some insurance exec’s bonus or some EV made in China.

So, as we gear up for tonight’s debate, remember, it’s not just about who can demagogue on drug prices louder. Here’s hoping for a healthcare comeback that doesn’t require grandma and grandpa to take out a new reverse mortgage. It’s about who’s got your back when it comes to those healthcare bills and can make American health care great again.

‘Embarrassing’: Kamala Harris Plagiarized Joe Biden’s Campaign Policies for Website

by Joel B. Pollak
10 Sep 2024

Vice President Kamala Harris’s campaign plagiarized policies from President Joe Biden’s campaign website, copying and pasting onto its “issues” page Sunday — seven weeks after Harris entered the presidential campaign.

As Breitbart News noted, Harris finally posted a set of policies on Sunday, after weeks of criticism for not having one on her campaign website. The policies were published just 48 hours before the presidential campaign’s first — and likely only — debate on Tuesday evening on ABC (at 9:00 p.m. ET).

But The New Republic — a left-wing outlet — reported Monday that several parts of the new policy section had simply been lifted from Biden’s website, even including material that called for Biden’s re-election.

In an article titled “Embarrassing Copy-Paste Plagues Harris’s Launch of Policy Platform,” The New Republic reported Monday:
Shortly after Kamala Harris released her policy agenda on Sunday evening, users on X spotted something in the metadata: Much of the language appears to have been lifted from Joe Biden’s campaign website.
On Sunday night, X user Corinne Green pointed out that the issues section of Harris’s website contained metadata with language urging voters to reelect Joe Biden. This language was visible when links to the campaign site were shared, and in the website’s description on Google searches.

All of this creates the impression that at least some of the Harris campaign’s policy language was copied and pasted from Biden’s documents. That would be an embarrassing miscue from the Harris campaign, which partly came into being because of a perception that a refresh was needed to garner enthusiasm in the Democratic Party. It doesn’t help that the section on her website about her Israel-Palestine policy seems very similar to what Biden’s campaign was saying.

While the language calling for Biden to be reelected was removed, The New Republic said, the Harris campaign had failed to live up to the claim of her “issues” page to represent a “new way forward.” In a separate article Tuesday, the left-wing publication declared that “Kamala Harris Can’t Keep Running Like This,” arguing:
This was always going to be a very close election, even after Harris replaced Biden. But the tightening of the polls over the past week point to a failure in Harris’s campaign. She had nearly two months to show voters who she is and what she stands for. Instead, she has played it safe, hoping to maintain the positive vibes and momentum of the summer by deliberately not staking out positions on controversial policies. It’s now clear that that approach is no longer working. As the Times’s Nate Cohn wrote on Sunday, “More than anything, voters say they want to hear more about where she stands on the issues, something her campaign has seemed to struggle to lay out.”

The Harris campaign is only now, belatedly, realizing that this is a problem. On Sunday, they finally added an “Issues” section to her website. It includes a slew of policies that the campaign has previously outlined, as well as sections on reproductive and civil rights. Unfortunately for Harris, its release was undermined by a simple but telling error: The page’s source code revealed that parts of the platform were copied directly from Biden’s campaign page.

This is dangerous territory for Harris, given that the Times poll found that more than 60 percent of voters wanted the next president to represent a “major change” from Biden—and only a quarter felt that Harris represented that change. That makes sense, given that she’s his vice president! But it means she should be working overtime to distinguish herself from her boss. Instead, she’s doing precisely the opposite. Unwilling to break publicly with Biden—to criticize his handling of say, inflation, immigration, or Israel—she has simply positioned herself as a younger version of him. Whether that’s intentional on her part, or the result of her campaign being run largely by the same people who ran Biden’s disastrous reelection bid, is unclear.

The news that Harris’s policies are copied from Biden’s website comes as she prepares for the debate, where she is under pressure to create a favorable public impression after avoiding the media for seven weeks, sitting down for only one interview on CNN with her running mate, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz.

Exclusive: Job Creators Network Calls Out Democratic Spin on Energy, Food, and Rent Inflation Ahead of Debate

by Jerome Hudson
Sep. 10, 2024

Job Creators Network, America’s largest small business advocacy group, has unveiled a rotating billboard in Times Square, highlighting the harsh economic reality millions of Americans face under President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris. The massive ads, meant to “dismantle campaign spin from the Democrats by showing how consumer prices are still rising even as the inflation rate falls,” arrive ahead of Tuesday’s primetime debate between Harris and former President Donald Trump.

The billboards show how the price of electricity, ground beef, and rent have exploded since Biden and Harris took office in January 2021. “Plotting actual prices alongside the inflation rate on the same graph. The ads refer to the difference as ‘Kamala’s Misery Gap,'” Job Creators Network said.

Indeed, Biden-Harris inflationary spending policies shot electricity prices up more than 30 percent from January 2021 to July 2024, according to the not seasonally adjusted Consumer Price Index (CPI).

Job Creators Network

“The Democrats are attempting to hoodwink the American people into believing that consumer prices are falling by pointing to the moderating inflation rate. But anyone who goes to a grocery store anecdotally knows this is not the case,” said Alfredo Ortiz, Job Creators Network CEO, in a statement.

“Our rotating billboard in Times Square features the real economic data behind the sentiment, visually charting how prices of everything from electricity to food are up big time under the current Biden-Harris administration.”

Working Americans are being crushed by Biden-Harris food price inflation, seeing their grocery bills on staples like beef skyrocket.

Last week, Job Creators Network called out the Biden-Harris spin that the grocery price increases hitting Americans are the result of supermarkets and food manufacturers “price gouging.”

“When a company decides what to charge for a jar of peanut butter, it has to consider the prices they pay for peanuts, oil, salt, packaging, transportation, and what they have to pay their employees to make the peanut butter,” a Job Creators Network video said.

“All of those things go into the final price we see on the shelf. Government data shows the price of these input costs have increased at the same elevated rate as consumer costs under the Biden-Harris administration. Food manufacturers and grocers are simply passing along their higher costs to consumers to stay profitable.”

WATCH:

Perhaps the most devastating blow to working Americans, since Biden and Harris took office, has been the crushing increase in the price of rent.

Last month, Breitbart News reported on data from the U.S Bureau of Labor Statistics showing U.S. city average for rent of shelter jumped 22 percent Under Biden and Harris.

In a July campaign stump speech, Harris promised to fix a problem her and Biden’s economic policies helped create, saying, if elected “On day one, we will take on corporate landlords and cap unfair rent increases.”

“It should be difficult for Kamala Harris to explain her way out of this one,” Ortiz said.

INGRASSIA: Trump Can Knockout Kamala Tonight By Exposing Her Disastrous Record, Radical Policies

by Paul Ingrassia
Sep. 10, 2024 7:45 am

More than any other election year since the advent of television has the results of a presidential debate proved so consequential. As of this writing, President Trump has the momentum on his side.

After enjoying a manufactured “honeymoon” period in the month after Joe Biden was ousted from the presidency via a behind-the-scenes coup, in which Kamala was in no small part complicit (and some might say, its mastermind), the vice president’s numbers have come crashing back to earth.

According to Nate Silver (https://truthsocial.com/@IAPolls2022...02578884192749), perhaps the leading name in the polling industry, President Trump’s prospects of winning the electoral college are nearly a whopping thirty points over the embattled vice president.

This pro-Trump sentiment has reverberated across betting markets, too: Polymarkets, maybe the premier election betting website this cycle, places the 45th President’s odds of winning the electoral college six percentage points higher than Kamala Harris.

The market platform has President Trump with leads in Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Georgia, Arizona, and Nevada, while closing in rapidly on Wisconsin and Michigan, two crucial rustbelt states that helped catapult him to the presidency in 2016.

These poll numbers and trends place the President in a formidable position heading into this evening’s debate. At this juncture in time, President Trump is a world-class debater, having pummeled candidate after candidate now in three separate presidential contests.

His mastery of the art of debate was on full display in late June, when he literally knocked out Joe Biden – the first time ever an incumbent president was forced into a premature exit from his race on account of a historically disastrous debate performance.

Indeed, it is largely because President Trump fared so well in that historic debate that goes a long way towards explaining the unprecedented nature, and inordinately high stakes, of this year’s race.

Kamala Harris is currently running the shortest presidential campaign in American history. Many millions of Americans are still unfamiliar with who she is, many more can’t name a single policy she stands for.

This ignorance is partially excusable due to the cover provided for her by the mainstream media, which has coddled her every step of the way, and shielded her from public scrutiny and hardball questions to ridiculous levels.

Indeed, the amount of protection Kamala has thus far received from a complicit media puts what they did to Joe Biden in 2020, who memorably ran a campaign from his basement, to shame.

The fake news knows as much as anybody that the minute Kamala is exposed to be the deeply detestable candidate with atrociously bad policies to the public, the minute their cover will be blown.

As it already stands, the media defrauded the public by downplaying these past four years Joe Biden’s mental incompetence, which was far, far worse, as uncovered by June’s debate, than anyone in the press previously let on.

Kamala Harris, who was Joe Biden’s vice president, is also, obviously, complicit in that fraud on the American public, which poses a still ongoing national security crisis of the gravest variety to the public, given how dramatic the global order has unraveled in just the last three and a half years – with crisis after crisis arising in Afghanistan, the Ukraine, the Middle East, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia, all regions that were stable not so long ago under Donald Trump’s presidency.

Entering this evening’s debate, the advantage is thoroughly in President Trump’s corner.

As he has stated in recent public appearances, he need not overthink his debate strategy: just allow Kamala Harris to talk and expose herself to the public, over a 90-minute period, which will be far more exposure than they have received to date.

Really, it should only take the first five minutes of Kamala speaking for the public to be reminded of just how awful a candidate she is.

Again, this is someone who failed to poll above single digits in her own party’s primary in 2020, and, prior to becoming the Democratic Party nominee, was polling as the least popular vice president in history (https://www.axios.com/2023/06/26/kam...election-biden) – numbers even worse than her boss, the most unpopular president since the advent of modern polling.

ABC is generally seen as a deeply biased network, even more so than CNN, the host of the previous debacle.

The face of the ABC network has famously acquired the moniker “George Slapadopolous” by the 45th President for his consistently dishonest and uncharitable reporting, with a resume that includes deep-seated ties to the Clinton family.

Even with ABC’s rigged conditions, however, replete with rules that permit two commercial breaks during the debate (presumably comfort time that will allow Kamala Harris to get her bearings, which, prior to this year, was a rarity for presidential debates), President Trump should feel confident that the winds are at his back.

For one, Kamala Harris is a dyed-in-the-wool radical.

This was reaffirmed this past weekend, when Democratic-Socialist Senator Bernie Sanders, swore on live television that Kamala’s Marxist-worldview was only changed for political expediency.

Where the hope is that once she is elected, she will revert to the hardcore leftist policies that always defined her public career, and which were responsible for ranking her the most liberal senator – ahead of Elizabeth Warren and Bernie Sanders – while in Congress.

Would the real Kamala Harris please step up?

Lest we forget: the former San Francisco District Attorney was for defunding the police at the height of the George Floyd riots in the summer of 2020.

She incited the worst sort of racial resentment all throughout that dismal summer, which amounted to a domestic color revolution.

This was reflected in such policies as calling for the tearing down and renaming of statues and monuments dedicated to George Washington and Christopher Columbus as well as policing employment practices through DEI and affirmative action.

She also constantly sided with those who called America’s most sacred institutions, from the judiciary to the Constitution itself, structurally racist and oppressive.

Recently, in a very controversial expose, the New York Times called for the eradication of the Constitution itself, that most cherished document that enshrines our fundamental rights and secures the blessings of American liberty.

If there was a political face to that revanchist worldview, it would be Kamala Harris, who, as vice president, has overseen the greatest weaponization of the justice system observed in American history.

Under she and Joe Biden, the Department of Justice – and myriad other intelligence agencies, alongside state attorneys general and prosecutors – has been weaponized to launch relentless witch-hunts on political dissidents, and those who would so dare exercise their First Amendment rights to speak and assemble freely, chief among them Donald John Trump.

Through it all, Kamala Harris has cackled every step of the way.

She has allowed vicious district attorneys to abandon their oaths and prosecutes those with whom they have a political disagreement with reckless abandon, sabotaging due process along the way, guaranteeing that the rule of law devolves into a banana republic-like system.

Meanwhile, as “border czar,” she has presided over the most disastrous southern border in American history, allowing tens of millions of foreign invaders to flood the countryside with impunity, bringing drugs, diseases, and foreign contaminants and creatures (and habits — see the influx Haitian migrants eating pet cats, geese, and ducks in local communities across America’s heartland) into the country completely and totally uninhibited.

Rather than do her public duty and call for the closing of the border, Kamala has done the opposite: she has solicited for more criminals to infiltrate our country, transforming our cultural identity in the process, promising them welfare, housing, food, healthcare, and even the sacred right to vote.

While the Democratic Party perpetuates this lie to the public, claiming they have not called for illegals to vote in this election, their actions speak loudly to the contrary.

To date, Kamala Harris has not ordered Merrick Garland to investigate illegal voter rolls in crucial battleground states, like Pennsylvania, Arizona, and Wisconsin, where likely tens if not hundreds of thousands of ineligible voters, including many illegal aliens, have been unlawfully added to voter rolls.

If both parties insist on election integrity as something integral to American democracy, then it should be easy for the Democrats to call for an audit of voter rolls in a state like Pennsylvania, for instance, where the Democratic Governor, Josh Shapiro, has so far been withholding them from the public.

Why someone as prominent as Shapiro would be reluctant to disclose voter rolls suggests a clear coverup for illegal ballot harvesting.

On this score, it might be advisable for President Trump to ask Kamala Harris upfront whether she supports illegal aliens voting in the election.

If she lies and denies it, or tergiversates some evasive answer, the 45th President should demand that she orders her Attorney General to investigate the voter rolls of every crucial battleground state, to ensure that illegal aliens – or any other kind of ineligible voter – does not appear on the ballot.

If she refuses that measure, it will be tantamount to an admission of guilt – the unspoken principle, which her entire party has adopted all but explicitly (in most cases), that illegal aliens should be given the vote.

If there is sufficient time, as a follow-up, the President might also challenge Kamala Harris on the principle of whether she believes illegal aliens should be given the vote. She once famously declared that “being an illegal alien is not a crime (https://x.com/RNCResearch/status/1816522520255954960).”

It would be well-advised for someone to press her on how far that logic goes – if being an illegal is not a crime, evidently, she believes illegals should be granted certain privileges.

She has already been for giving them housing and countless other handouts – at what point does the distinction between citizenship and foreigner dissipate altogether?

Her actions, if not her words outwardly (though her words have come alarmingly close), indicate that she does not believe in the concept of national sovereignty.

Kamala, in other words, retains the simpleminded belief, popular at Ivy League universities, that “borders are racist.”

If borders are racist, so too is the concept of citizenship, because citizenship necessarily depends on being opposed to non-citizens.

By extension, the Constitution is racist, and immoral, and perhaps even disposable. Ah, it’s all making sense!

If Kamala tries to pull the usual shenanigans, and retreat to perceived “safe” territory like abortion and other topics during the debate where she might feel she has the upper hand, the President should pivot right back to her weak areas.

Among her weakest is the border – and crime, justice, and enforcing the law generally.

There, he can and should absolutely interrogate her like a fanatical prosecutor about her positions on these most important issues – disentangling the real Kamala from her manufactured image, demanding clarity where she inevitably proves evasive, in the pursuit of exposing her in all her glorious, radical nature.

It might be the one chance, the last opportunity, for Kamala Harris to get any sort of pushback before she goes into hiding for the remaining eight weeks of this presidential contest.

But the good news for President Trump is it’s highly improbable the DNC will swap out their candidate a second time with less than two months to go.

While I would put absolutely nothing past them, given how unprecedented this campaign has been and how dishonest and unfair the Democrats play the game, it would be a bill of goods for them to have three candidates in as many months, and try to sell the public that their third nominee could be a viable contender, let alone the general election victor.

As it currently stands, it will be an uphill battle for them to dupe the public they can, under these conditions, pull off victory with Kamala Harris – without, of course, resorting to the kind of duplicity alluded to throughout this article, that would be necessary to get someone as incompetent and radical as she is over the finish line in any election season.

But particularly this year, given how little time she must acquaint herself with the public, so limited as to establish a rebuttable presumption that she cannot possibly win but for cheating and fraud. Cheating and fraud being mantra of the Kamala Harris campaign.

Popular breakfast staple sold at Walmart and Walgreens recalled for containing cancer-causing metal arsenic

By Emily Joshu Health Reporter For Dailymail.Com
Published: 10:31 EDT, 10 September 2024

Health officials have expanded a recall of apple juice sold at several popular stores over fears that it has been contaminated with cancer-causing metals.

On August 26, the FDA announced that 133,500 cases of apple juice produced by Florida-based Refresco Beverages Inc are being voluntarily pulled from shelves due to possibly containing inorganic arsenic, a 'highly toxic' compound usually found in contaminated water.

The affected products were sold in 26 states, Washington DC, and Puerto Rico at retailers Walmart, Walgreens, Aldi, Weis, Market Basket, BJ's, Dollar General, Lidl US, and Brooklyn Fare.

This is an expansion of a recall initiated on August 15, which just included 9,500 cases of Walmart's Great Value apple juice.

No illnesses have been reported.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced that several brands of apple juice, including Walmart's Great Value, have been recalled due to arsenic

The FDA said that affected juices had arsenic levels of 13.2 parts per billion.

Last year, the agency announced that the limit for inorganic arsenic should be 10 parts per billion in apple juice.

The initial recall was designated Class II, meaning exposure to the product could cause temporary or medically reversible health issues.

The newly recalled products have not been given a classification yet.

However, inorganic arsenic, a naturally occurring element in the Earth's crust and places like water and soil, has been linked to severe health consequences.

The compound is a known carcinogen, meaning that it is proven to cause cancer, and the World Health Organization describes it as 'highly toxic.'

Long-term exposure has been shown to lead to skin lesions, developmental defects, diabetes, lung and heart disease.

Signs of short-term exposure generally include nausea, vomiting, and numbness or burning in the hands or feet.

The recall comes after the FDA announced plans to investigate several brands of tampons that may contain arsenic and other heavy metals like lead and cadmium.

States where contaminated apple juice has been recalled

Connecticut
Delaware
Florida
Georgia
Illinois
Indiana
Kentucky
Massachusetts

Maine
Michigan
Mississippi
North Carolina
New Hampshire
New Jersey
New York

Breitbart Business Digest: The Economic Numbers That Matter for the Trump-Harris Debate

by John Carney
Sep. 10, 2024

An Economic Data Crib Sheet for the Presidential Debate

The economy is likely to be a key battleground in the debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump in Philadelphia on Tuesday night. It is the top issue for a plurality of Americans and one of Harris’s key weaknesses in opinion polls.

Here are some of the key facts about the economy under the Trump administration and the Biden-Harris administration that should inform tonight’s debate.

In order to allow for a fair assessment of the economic performance and policies of Trump and Harris, we’ve tried to take out the effect of the pandemic by excluding 2020 and sometimes 2021 from our calculations. Sometimes this benefits Trump: we’ve excluded the massive job losses in 2020. Sometimes it benefits Biden: we excluded the deficit spending of 2021 because it includes emergency pandemic measures.

Inflation
Peak Inflation for Trump: 2.85%
Peak Inflation for Biden-Harris: 8.98%
This is measured by the year-over-year increase in the consumer price index.

Alternatively, we can measure the highest annualized rate of inflation in any month.
Peak annualized inflation for Trump: 6.3% in September 2017
Peak annualized inflation for Biden-harris: 16.05% in June 2022

The pain caused by inflation is not, however, entirely captured by the peak rate. The cumulative effect of inflation matters as well. Here we measure it from February at the start of the term through July of the fourth year, the most recent available for the Biden-Harris administration.
Cumulative Trump Inflation: 5.9%
Cumulative Biden-Harris Inflation: 19%
The price of groceries has been a particular sore spot for many voters. Again, we measure this from February of the first year through July of the fourth year of each presidency.
Cumulative Trump grocery inflation: 6%
Cumulative Biden-Harris grocery inflation: 20.9%
Rent is another focus of inflation that is squeezing many American households.
Rent increase under Trump: 12.5%
Rent increase under Biden-Harris: 22.1%
Finally, we can measure inflation by how long it stays elevated above the Fed’s two percent target.
Months of PCE inflation above two percent under Trump: 5
Months of PCE inflation above two percent under Biden-Harris: 40

Manufacturing Employment

Manufacturing Jobs Added under Trump: 414,500
Manufacturing Jobs Added under Biden-Harris: 138,000
This measures jobs from the peak of the prior presidency to the peak of the relevant administration. This allows us to exclude the pandemic and its rebound, better capturing the effect of each administration’s policies.
Growth of Manufacturing Jobs under Trump: 3.5%
Growth of Manufacturing Jobs Under Biden-Harris: 1.07%

Jobs and Wages

The pandemic caused a massive spike in unemployment in 2020. We have excluded that from our calculations by measuring employment at the peak of the prior presidency to its peak during the relevant administration. So, for Trump, this is measured as the peak under Barack Obama to the peak under Trump. For Biden, it is measured form the peak under Trump to the peak under Biden-Harris.
Trump employment growth: 6.5 million
Percent Trump employment growth: 4.3%
Biden-Harris employment growth: 2.6 million
Percent Biden-Harris employment growth: 1.7%
Inflation has badly eaten away at the wage gains of American workers. Here we measure average hourly earnings from February of the first year of each presidency through July of the fourth year, the most recent data available for Biden-Harris.
Trump wage gain: 6.46%
Biden-Harris wage gain: 5.17%
If we excluded managerial and white collar employees, the pain caused by inflation is even worse. Here are the wage gains for production and nonsupervisory workers.
Trump wage gain: 6.54%
Biden-Harris wage gain: 0.00%

The Border Crisis and American Jobs

Immigration is perhaps the only issue that rivals inflation and the economy for the public’s attention in this election.
Foreign born population growth under Trump: 2.2%
Foreign born population growth under Biden-Harris: 12.6%
Much of the job growth under the Biden-Harris administration has gone to foreign-born workers. Here we measure the growth of employment of foreign born workers from the start of the Trump administration through February of the third year and from the pre-pandemic peak under Trump through the most recent month. This allows us to exclude the effect of the pandemic.
Foreign-born employment growth under Trump: 7.5%.
Foreign-born employment growth under Biden-Harris: 14.2%.
We can also measure the growth of foreign employment in the U.S. as a percentage of total employment. Here again we exclude the pandemic period, when foreign-born employment crashed.
Foreign-born workers as a percentage of all U.S. workers under Trump: 17.4%
Foreign-born workers as a percentage of all U.S. workers under Biden-Harris: 19.6%

Budget Deficits

Trump and his running-mate Sen. JD Vance (R-OH) have frequently argued, with ample evidence, that the Biden-Harris administration’s deficit spending fueled runaway inflation. To measure the deficit fairly, we have excluded 2020 and 2021, since those years were arguably heavily impacted by the pandemic. Excluding 2020 benefits Trump’s numbers and excluding 2021 benefits Biden’s.
Trump average budget deficit 2018-2019: $809 billion
Biden-Harris average budget deficit 2022-2023: $1.5 trillion
The budget deficit is arguably more relevant as a percentage of the total economy. So, here is the deficit as a percent of GDP.
Trump budget deficit as share of GDP in 2018: 3.8%
Trump budget deficit as share of GDP in 2019: 4.6%
Biden-Harris budget deficit as share of GDP in 2022: 5.3%
Biden-Harris budget deficit as share of GDP in 2023: 6.2%

Economics Growth

The GDP figures are wildly skewed by the pandemic collapse, when the economy contracted by 2.2 percent, and the rebound, when it grew by 5.8 percent. Here we present figures showing the first three years of the Trump administration compared with the first three years of the Biden administration. We also include the Biden figure excluding the pandemic rebound.
Average economic growth in first three years of Trump administration: 2.7%
Average economic growth in first three years of Biden-Harris administration: 3.4%
Average economic growth under Biden-Harris excluding 2021 pandemic rebound: 2.2%

The Stock Market and Interest Rates

Average return of S&P 500 in first three years of Trump administration: 16.3%
Average return of S&P 500 in first three years of Biden-Harris administration: 12.3%

Peak 30-year mortgage interest rate under Trump: 4.94%
Peak 30-year mortgage interest rate under Biden-Harris: 7.76%
