- Với quân số chưa đến 5.000 nhưng đây là lực lượng tinh nhuệ nhất của Trung Quốc, họ là những người đă từng vượt qua được cả đặc nhiệm Mỹ và Anh.

Lực lượng đặc nhiệm Trung Quốc - Chinese Special operations forces (SOF) là một lực lượng bao gồm biệt kích, binh sĩ giống biệt kích dù US Ranger của Mỹ.

Những đơn vị tiền thân của lực lượng này được ra đời từ những năm 1980, đến nay, qua nhiều thập kỉ, Trung Quốc đă cho các binh sĩ SOF của ḿnh mở rộng hoạt động ra tầm quốc tế, thậm chí c̣n tham gia một cuộc thi quốc tế dành cho các lực lượng đặc nhiệm do NATO tổ chức.

Năm 2009, trong cuộc thi lần thứ 14 dành cho đặc nhiệm do NATO tại Slovakia, Đặc nhiệm Trung Quốc đă lần đầu tiên đứng trên cùng đấu trường với những lực lượng nổi tiếng thế giới như Biệt kích Hải quân Hoàng gia Anh, Biệt kích US Ranger của Mỹ (lính mũ nồi xanh) và Biệt kích Sayeret MATKAL của Israel.

Sau một cuộc cạnh tranh khốc liệt của những người đàn ông giỏi nhất thế giới, Trung Quốc đă tạo ra bất ngờ khi phá vỡ 6 kỉ lục của cuộc thi, đứng đầu về tổng số huy chương, số lượng huy chương vàng và điểm toàn đoàn.

Trong cuộc thi dành cho lính bắn tỉa toàn cầu Sniper World Cup năm 2010, Trung Quốc đứng vị trí thứ 3 và đến năm 2011 th́ họ chính thức giành được vị trí đầu tiên. Đặc nhiệm Trung Quốc c̣n được nói là đă giành chiến thắng trong các cuộc đấu vơ tay đôi với đặc nhiệm các nước khác.

Ở Trung Quốc, lực lượng đặc nhiệm này được gọi với tên "Tử huyệt", nó liên quan đến vơ thuật cổ truyền. Khi vơ sĩ được huấn luyện về huyệt đạo đă ra đón trùng đích, đối phương có thể bị gục ngă ngay lập tức.

Hiện nay, tổng số binh sĩ SOF có dưới 5.000 người, được biên chế vào các đơn vị là Nhóm chiến tranh đặc biệt số 6, Nhóm chiến tranh đặc biệt số 8, Nhóm chiến tranh đặc biệt độc lập số 12 và Đơn vị biệt kích Hải quân.

Nguồn tuyển quân chủ yếu của SOF Trung Quốc là từ Đoàn biệt kích dù số 15. V́ vậy các binh lính Trung Quốc hiểu rằng, để có thể trở thành một biệt kích của SOF họ trước tiên phải được phục vụ trong đơn vị biệt kích dù.

Tại thời điểm Chiến tranh vùng Vịnh năm 1991, Trung Quốc khi đó chỉ có dưới 100 biệt kích các loại, nhiệm vụ chủ yếu của các quân nhân này là trinh sát tầm xa.

Sau khi chứng kiến những ǵ mà lính Mỹ đă làm ở vùng Vịnh, Trung Quốc đă phát triển lực lượng của ḿnh theo hướng các Biệt kích US Ranger của Mỹ.

Đến cuộc chiến Afghanistan 2001, Trung Quốc nâng cấp hướng huấn luyện đặc nhiệm của ḿnh lên một bậc nữa giống như các lực lượng Delta Force của Mỹ hay S.A.S của Anh với chức năng chống khủng bố. Ngoài ra, họ cũng đảm nhận các nhiệm vụ đặc biệt như đột kích, ám sát, bắt cóc, giải cứu con tin.

Trong 2 thập kỉ vừa qua, Trung Quốc tuyển dụng và đào tạo SOF cực ḱ nghiêm khắc, điều đó có nghĩa họ sở hữu hàng trăm biệt kích có kinh nghiệm hoạt động hàng chục năm.

Năm 2006, hàng trăm giảng viên của SOF Trung Quốc được cho là đă đến Venezuela để huấn luyện quân đội nước này các kĩ năng trinh sát và chống khủng bố trong ṿng 6 tháng.

Tuy nhiên, chẳng có ǵ là miễn phí với người Trung Quốc. Nước này chọn Venezuela bởi muốn t́m hiểu những ǵ các giảng viên của SOF Mỹ đă dạy quân đội nước này trong năm 2003. Venezuela đă cho Trung Quốc thứ họ cần.

Từ đó đến nay, Trung Quốc đă có nhiều thay đổi trong đào tạo và các nhiệm vụ t́nh báo, hiệu quả của sự thay đổi này cho thấy các chiến thuật đă cũ được Mỹ sử dụng trong hơn nửa thế kỉ qua vẫn đang c̣n rất hiệu quả.
