WASHINGTON, DC (NV) — Bác sĩ Anthony Fauci, một trong những chuyên gia hàng đầu tại Ṭa Bạch Ốc có trách nhiệm về nỗ lực chống đại dịch COVID-19, hôm Thứ Hai, 20 Tháng Tư, cảnh cáo rằng các cuộc biểu t́nh diễn ra khắp nước Mỹ hiện nay để phản đối lệnh cách ly chỉ sẽ kéo dài thời gian đóng cửa.


Theo bản tin của tờ Washington Examiner, dân chúng tại ít nhất 20 tiểu bang đă xuống đường để phản đối lệnh ở trong nhà do thống đốc của họ đưa ra, nói rằng phải mở cửa lại nền kinh tế. Có hơn 21 triệu người bị mất việc trong bốn tuần lễ qua.

Bác sĩ Fauci, giám đốc Viện Dị Ứng và Bệnh Truyền Nhiễm Quốc Gia (NIAID), được hỏi trong chương tŕnh Good Morning America hôm Thứ Hai về nguy hiểm của các cuộc xuống đường này.

Ông trả lời: “Tôi nghĩ câu trả lời rất rơ ràng, rằng đây là điều đang tạo khó khăn về mặt kinh tế. Nhưng trừ khi là chúng ta kiểm soát được virus, phục hồi thật sự về mặt kinh tế sẽ không diễn ra.”

Bác sĩ Fauci nói thêm rằng: “Nếu người ta quá vội vàng, rồi đi vào t́nh trạng có sự gia tăng lây nhiễm lớn lao, các nỗ lực của chúng ta sẽ bị thất bại. Các hành động phản đối này sẽ có phản ứng ngược. Đó là vấn đề.”

Tuy nhiên, Tổng Thống Donald Trump lại có quan điểm rất khác với Bác sĩ Fauci về vấn đề phản đối đóng cửa.

Hôm Thứ Sáu, ông Trump gởi tweet kêu gọi người dân ở Michigan, Minnesota và Virginia, các tiểu bang có thống đốc phía đảng Dân Chủ, hăy tự “giải phóng” họ và mở cửa nền kinh tế trở lại.

Tuy nhiên, sau đó khi được hỏi về bản tweet này trong cuộc họp báo ở Ṭa Bạch Ốc, Tổng Thống Trump nói một số thống đốc có biện pháp “quá cứng rắn”, nhưng không nói hẳn ra là các vị lănh đạo tiểu bang này phải hủy bỏ lệnh đóng cửa.
