Cuộc bạo động vào thứ Tư ngày 06/01/2021 là lần đầu tiên Điện Capitol bị đánh chiếm kể từ khi người Anh tấn công và đốt cháy tòa nhà Quốc hội vào năm 1814, trong Cuộc chiến năm 1812, theo Samuel Holliday, giám đốc học bổng và hoạt động của Hiệp hội Lịch sử Điện Capitol Hoa Kỳ.

British troops burned U.S. Capitol in 1814
During the War of 1812 against Great Britain, British troops battled their way to Washington in August 1814 and burned down the Capitol and other buildings.
