Prosecutors said Kristina Chambers, 34, was driving her Porsche 911 Carrera about 70 mph, around 2 a.m. on April 19, 2023. She hit a curb before crashing into Joseph McMullin, 33, on the sidewalk as he left a Houston donut shop with a date.
According to KHOU, he was sent 30 feet into the air.
Investigators said Chambers’ blood alcohol content was .301, nearly four times the legal limit, reports the Houston Chronicle. The outlet also reported police found cocaine in her car and purse.
Two passengers in her car were taken to an area hospital.
Chambers’ attorney, Mark Thiessen, argued that the crash was an accident caused when her Christian Louboutin heels got stuck on the gas pedal, via the Houston Chronicle.
“This is one of Houston’s most dangerous curves,” Thiessen said.
McMullin’s family has filed a $1 million civil lawsuit against Chambers, per the Houston Chronicle. If convicted, she faces two to 20 years in prison, per Fox 26.
