Tướng về hưu Michael Flynn, cựu cố vấn an ninh quốc gia mới được ân xá, người đă dấn thân vào các thuyết âm mưu, một lần nữa kêu gọi quân đội bước vào và lật ngược kết quả bầu cử năm 2020.

Trong một lần xuất hiện hôm thứ Sáu trên mạng cánh hữu NewsMax, Flynn khẳng định rằng ông ta "không kêu gọi" thiết quân luật - điều mà ông ta đă tán thành trong quá khứ. Ông ấy chỉ đơn giản là muốn Tổng thống Trump ra lệnh cho quân đội "tổ chức lại một cuộc bầu cử" ở các quốc gia xoay ṿng, nhận được sự lên án từ các quan chức quân đội hiện tại và trước đây.

Đáp lại một đoạn clip về sự xuất hiện của Flynn trên NewsMax, Tướng về hưu Tony Thomas đă nhắc nhở Flynn rằng ông nên biết rơ hơn ai hết khi đưa ra những tuyên bố hoang đường như vậy. "Ông biết rằng việc sử dụng quân đội để 'tổ chức lại các cuộc bầu cử' là một việc không chính đáng với nghề binh nghiệp," cựu chỉ huy của Bộ Chỉ huy Hoạt động Đặc biệt Hoa Kỳ đă tweet. "Dừng lại!"

Bộ trưởng Lục quân Ryan McGarthy và Tham mưu trưởng Lục quân, Tướng James McConville không trực tiếp chỉ trích Flynn, nhưng đă chỉ trích hành động của ông ta bằng một tuyên bố hôm thứ Sáu. Các nhà lănh đạo khẳng định: "Không có vai tṛ nào đối với quân đội Mỹ trong việc quyết định kết quả của một cuộc bầu cử Mỹ".

Tướng Mark Milley, Chủ tịch Hội đồng Tham mưu trưởng Liên quân, cũng đưa ra quan điểm tương tự vào tuần trước. Theo tôi th́ Trump nên làm, tuy các tướng không nghe nhưng CC da vàng sẵn sàng hy sinh, các ACE quên rồi sao họ tuyên bố Joe Biden không phải tổng thống của họ, họ nói thà chết cho Trump làm TT, họ nói thà nhiễm Cô Vy chứ không sống với Biden, như vậy đủ để họ giúp Trump tiếp tục ngồi trên ngai vàng.
