Default Vietnam serves nearly 10 million international travelers in 7 months

Vietnam has experienced a notable increase in foreign tourist arrivals, with figures for the January to July period rising by 1.9% compared to the same period in 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted global travel. The country welcomed over 7.8 million tourists from Asia, making it the primary source of international visitors. Europe, the Americas, Oceania, and Africa followed with over 1.1 million, 610,200, 309,000, and 29,000 arrivals, respectively.

South Korea and China were the leading contributors, accounting for nearly half of the total foreign arrivals, with approximately 2.6 million and 2.1 million visitors, respectively. European markets also saw significant growth, with an increase of about 47% from key markets such as the UK, France, Germany, Russia, Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Switzerland.

This growth is attributed to favorable visa policies and intensified tourism promotion efforts by localities across Vietnam in 2024. Popular destinations like Hanoi, Da Nang, Phu Quoc, Ha Long, and Nha Trang continue to attract a large number of international tourists.

Vietnam's tourism industry has set an ambitious target of welcoming 17-18 million foreign visitors in 2024, aiming to approach the pre-pandemic record levels seen in 2019.
