Northern and central provinces of Vietnam are enduring a fresh heat wave as temperatures peak at more than 38 degrees Celsius in some places, according to the national weather forecasting authority.
The National Centre for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting have reported a hot low-pressure area originating from the west which is heading for the nation’s northern and central regions, thereby causing temperatures to quickly rise.
As of May 29 northern and central localities are enduring temperatures between 35 and 38 degrees Celsius, with some locations even recording highs of over 38 degrees Celsius.
With a low humidity of between 45% and 60% and high temperatures of above 35 degrees Celsius, people will be forced to feel the searing heat throughout most of the day, said meteorologists.
In Hanoi, temperatures are set to rapidly rise from May 29 to reach highs of 35 to 37 degrees Celsius at around midday, and even over 38 degrees Celsius in some locations over the next few days.
According to the national weather forecasting authority, the latest hot spell is anticipated to last throughout early June in both northern and central regions.
They also warned hot weather causes exhaustion and heat stroke when people work outside for a long period of time. Due to this heat wave, local people are advised to be cautious about the risk of fires and explosions occurring in residential areas, along with the danger posed by forest fires in the central region.
