Sweet Megan: An Allergen-Free Choice

This brand has the distinction of being the only option that can be eaten straight from the jar or made into cookies. This is so smart for people (like myself) that want it both ways. Craving cookies right now? Try our perfect chocolate chip cookie recipes.

Right from the start, we could all tell that this dough was different. It had a decidedly different look and texture than the other doughs in our lineup. This dough also tasted much different than the others. Taking hefty spoonfuls, we found that this edible dough was a bit looser than the rest, more of the consistency of batter than a dough. And taste-wise, we all picked up on one distinct flavor: oatmeal. I could have sworn I grabbed the wrong dough—it had to be an oatmeal variety!

Except that this was, in fact, the chocolate chip option from Sweet Megan. It turns out we weren’t just crazy, this dough’s first ingredient is oats. After unveiling the brands post-testing, we dove deeper into the ingredients on this edible cookie dough. The offering from Sweet Megan is, in fact, allergy free, meaning it’s free of gluten, wheat, soy, peanuts, tree nuts, eggs and dairy. In this regard, Sweet Megan is a great option for those with any allergies, but it wouldn’t be our first choice for folks without any sensitivities. We just miss the butter too much!
