Trong tiếng Việt ngày nay, không hiểu ai bày ra từ thập kỷ 十紀 (Ví dụ: thập kỷ 90) với ư là 10 năm. Nói như vậy là sai v́ thập kỷ có nghĩa là 120 năm. Chỉ cần nói thập niên 十年 là đủ rồi (Ví dụ: thập niên 90, the 1990s).
