Liệu Mỹ có sớm bỏ độc quyền vaccine
 

Đại diện Thương mại Mỹ Katherine Tai ngày 5/5 thừa nhận sự cấp thiết của việc mở rộng nguồn cung vaccine Covid-19 trên phạm vi toàn cầu.
Bà Tai cho biết quan điểm của Washington đối với vấn đề vaccine là bảo đảm tăng cường tiếp cận và "bảo vệ mạng sống" của người dân, theo Reuters.

Mỹ cũng đang cân nhắc với đề nghị của Ấn Độ, Nam Phi và một số nước đang phát triển về dỡ bỏ quyền sở hữu trí tuệ liên quan đến vaccine, bà Tai nói.

Đề xuất dỡ bỏ quyền sở hữu trí tuệ liên quan đến vaccine Covid-19 đến nay vẫn vấp phải sự phản đối của Mỹ và những nước có trụ sở các tập đoàn công nghiệp dược phẩm lớn.Vấn đề này sẽ được mang ra thảo luận tại Đại hội đồng Tổ chức Thương mại thế giới (WTO) trong ngày 5/5.

Khi được hỏi về thời điểm Washington có thể đưa ra quyết định về việc dỡ bỏ quyền sở hữu trí tuệ với vaccine như đề xuất của Ấn Độ và Nam Phi, bà Tai nói "thời gian là vấn đề cốt lõi" cũng giống như nhiều khía cạnh khác trong bối cảnh đại dịch.

Trước đó, bà Tai hôm 4/5 thừa nhận sự cần thiết đưa vaccine tới khắp nơi trên thế giới để chấm dứt hoàn toàn dịch bệnh và đẩy nhanh phục hồi kinh tế.

Lúc này, đa phần nghị sĩ Mỹ tại Hạ viện đã kêu gọi Tổng thống Joe Biden ủng hộ việc dỡ bỏ quyền sở hữu trí tuệ với vaccine.

Mặc dù vậy, nhiều chuyên gia cảnh báo chỉ riêng việc dỡ bỏ quyền sở hữu trí tuệ sẽ không đủ để mở rộng nguồn cung vaccine toàn cầu. Giới chuyên gia cho biết điều cốt yếu là các tập đoàn dược phẩm cần chuyển giao quy trình, công nghệ sản xuất vaccine.
