Australia lại muốn cho Trung Quốc thuê cảng 99 năm
 

Australia sẽ xem xét lại hợp đồng cho một doanh nghiệp Trung Quốc thuê cảng quân sự - thương mại thời hạn 99 năm. Động thái này có thể khiến căng thẳng giữa Australia và Trung Quốc leo thang hơn nữa.
Báo Sydney Morning Herald ngày 2/5 đưa tin, giới chức quốc phòng Australia đang xem xét lại liệu Landbridge Group, một công ty thuộc sở hữu của tỷ phú Trung Quốc Ye Cheng, có bị buộc chấm dứt hợp đồng thuê cảng ở Darwin vì lý do an ninh quốc gia hay không.

Ủy ban An ninh Quốc gia Australia đã đề nghị Bộ Quốc phòng nước này đưa ra một số khuyến nghị liên quan đến việc cho thuê cảng và quá trình xem xét này đang diễn ra, Sydney Morning Herald dẫn lời Bộ trưởng Quốc phòng Australia Peter Dutton cho hay.

The Australian Department of Defense, the Chinese Embassy and Landbridge's representative office in Australia were not available for comment.

The Landbridge is said to have close ties to the Chinese military. The company won a bid in 2015 to operate the port in Darwin, Australia under a lease of more than $ 390 million.

This port lease agreement worries the United States because the port is important to US forces' operations in the Pacific.
