Hội đồng thành phố cho rằng mùi hôi thối của phân gà sẽ khiến người dân không tụ tập vào dịp lễ hội truyền thống Đêm Walpurgis.
Hằng năm, mỗi dịp 30/4, Lund, thành phố sinh viên phía Bắc Thụy Điển thường tổ chức lễ hội Walpurgis, dịp để sinh viên tụ tập uống rượu, đốt lửa trại, cũng như thư giăn và nghỉ ngơi sau kỳ thi.
Lễ hội truyền thống Đêm Walpurgis được tổ chức vào 30/4 hằng năm tại thành phố Lund, phía bắc Thụy Điển.
Tuy nhiên, với sự ảnh hưởng của đại dịch Covid-19, Thụy Điển đă cấm các cuộc tụ tập trên 50 người. Chính v́ vậy, chính quyền thành phố Lund dự định sẽ đổ một tấn phân gà vào công viên trung tâm để ngăn khoảng 30.000 người tới tổ chức lễ hội Walpurgis.
‘Lund rất có thể trở thành nguồn lây lan virus, v́ vậy tôi cho rằng đây là một sáng kiến hay', Chủ tịch Ủy ban Môi trường thành phố Lund, ông Gustav Lundblad nói.
Theo ông Lundblad, mùi phân gà sẽ khiến nhiều người khó chịu và không thể ngồi uống bia trong công viên, điều này phần nào khiến mọi người không thể tụ tập tại đây. Tuy nhiên, ông cũng không thể đảm bảo rằng ‘những nơi khác của thành phố sẽ không bị ám mùi. Nhưng quan trọng là điều này giúp mọi người không đi tới công viên'.
Lund là một trong số các thành phố tập trung các trường đại học lớn nhất của Thụy Điển và phần lớn trong số 125.000 cư dân thành phố là sinh viên. Hàng năm, họ thường đến công viên vào buổi chiều và buổi tối để cắm trại trước buổi lễ Đêm Walpurgis.
